Experimental analysis of the effects of liquid phase surface tension on the hydrodynamics and mass transfer in a square bubble column

The effects of liquid surface tension were investigated on gas-liquid interfaces in bubbly flows through the analysis hydrodynamic and mass transfer features. Tap water aqueous solutions with two types surfactant (cationic anionic) are used as phases. In fact, these surfactants organic collectors consisting an amine ester. influences concentration superficial gas velocity volumetric coefficient hold-up highlighted. experimental findings revealed that although tested generated a decrease tension, their flow regimes very different. First, it was observed close to tap water, but increased once above 7 cm.s−1. Conversely, presence ester decreased overall since bubble net coalescence enhanced, heterogeneous regime prevailed 2.9 Thus, homogeneous less than 4.4 cm.s−1 for solution, which corresponds transition point. Experimental exhibited also power spectral density pressure fluctuations is convenient tool identify prevailing even solutions. Besides that, both strongly reduced comparison mainly by inducing additional resistance interfacial adsorption cationic amine, promoting anionic solution.
